Fred Graham, the son of Bob and Hannah Curry Graham, was born December 12, 1936, in Newton, Mississippi. As a child, Fred attended St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church and Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Mississippi.  He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age. He completed his education at Bolder School in Newton, Mississippi.

In 1955, Fred relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he met his beloved wife, Marlene.  On July 28, 1962, Fred was united in Holy Matrimony to Marlene Lena Bronaugh.  Their celebrated forty-five years of marital contentment and happiness until Marlene’s homegoing in 2007.

Fred, along with his beloved wife, Marlene, were active members of Greater Whitestone Missionary Baptist Church. Since it’s founding in the early 1960’s, they remained faithful in their service and attendance.

Fred was hard-working and industrious in nature, and his work ethic served as an example to many. He was employed at Summerville Construction Company as a laborer for some years. He also worked at Colonial Bakery for twenty-five years, until his retirement. He continued working as a Master Brick Mason for Summerville Construction Company for several more years.

Fred was endowed with many admirable characteristics and attributes. He was a loving and honorable gentleman, who never met a stranger.  His word was his bond.  He had a big heart, and it was his joy to share what he had and help anyone in need.  Among his charitable contributions and unbeknownst to many, for over 15 years he made a monthly donation to the Wheeler Mission.  Fred was well loved and highly respected in the neighborhood and community, even people who were not related to him affectionately referred to him as, “Paw-Paw”.  Because he liked to make others laugh and smile, Fredwas also known for his joking nature. He was straight forward and his many saying included: “I’m just tellin’ it like it I lyin’?”, “If you like it I love it”, and, “What comes up, comes out”.

Fred Graham lived his life in his own terms and he was peacefully content. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Gary D. Weaver; daughters, Debra G. Graham, Donita S. Gamble (Charles), Rochelle N. Weaver and Deborah Redd (Donald); 18 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren and extended family which include Janice Nash, Wallace Nash and Nancy Nash, a host of four generations nieces and nephews, cousins, countless friends and his beloved neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlene Lena Bronaugh Graham; sons, Ewing L. Thompkins, Jr., Larry D, Weaver, Ricky E. Weaver,    Tyrone V. Weaver, Gregory L. Graham and Fredrick A. Graham; parents, Bob and Hannah Graham; sister, Girlie Graham Woods (Rev. Jessie L. Woods); brothers; Charlie Graham, and Leroy Graham and his extended loved ones.
