Reverend Tom Henry Lee, Sr. was born on June 11, 1929 in Helena, Arkansas to Andrew and Gracie Lee who preceded him in death.  He departed this life Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.  In 1951, he moved to Indianapolis to pursue boxing.  On May 6, 1953, he met Nellie Margaret Sellers whom he later joined marriage on May 20, 1953; she preceded him in death September 30, 1999 after 46 years of marriage.  Together they had nine children.  Their son Timothy preceded them in death.  He was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather and  minister.

Being raised in the South during the Depression, Tom only was allowed a fourth grade education but he was strong willed, a leader, a provider and had a great work ethic. He was determined to go back to school and went to Crossroads and completed school up to the seventh grade.  He instilled all those traits and his love of God into all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He wasn’t one to hug and kiss but showed his love in other unique ways that only his family could understand. Reverend Lee professed a love for Christ and became an ordained minister in 1969. He served as assistant pastor at various churches including Zion Hill MBC and Little People’s MBC.

Reverend Lee worked at G & G Foundry, Light Metal Foundry, Non-Ferrous Foundry and later he worked part-time at Chesty Potato Chips and Cannon IV.  He enjoyed lawn work, housekeeping and automobiles.  He taught himself to play guitar and piano by ear.  He had a lot of knowledge and skills he shared with his family.

Reverend Lee was a member of the Meridian Lodge #33 and Contatine Consistory #25.  He was raised to the Degree of a Master Mason on January 30, 1997.  He quickly jumped into motion to be Meridian Lodge #33’s chaplain.  He held this position from 1998 – 2000.  He was raised to a 32 degree on September 2, 2001.  His work and dedication will be remembered and missed.

He leaves to mourn his passing his sister, Minnie Bell Murphy; his children:  Gloria (Terry) Alsum, Beverly (Byron) Brown, Tom Lee Jr., Gerry Lee, Stefanie Lee, Kenny (Michelle) Lee, Rochelle Lee, Shawn (Anita) Lee, Torrey Lee-Nance (their grandson); 25 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  His friend and fellow pastor Reverend Neris Willis.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Fredrick and Jody Lee; his sisters, Levertie Minor, Gertie Beckner, and Edna Mae Brown.
