Mrs. Mary Cook was born on February 12, 1913, in Worthington, Indiana.  She was the daughter of George and Glovie Stewart Woolridge.  She was an integral member of a large, loving, Christian family, all of whom relished the times they shared.

Early in life she professed a belief in Christ. Mary received her education in the public school system of Worthington, Indiana and Bloomington, Indiana.

On December 6, 1941, Mary was united in marriage to Alfred Lawrence Cook.  Together they shared fifty-two wonderful years of marital contentment together.

Having moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, Mary became a member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church.

Mary was employed by Detroit Diesel/Allison Division of the General Motors Corporation in the Heat Treat Department.  She was a longtime member of United Auto Workers, Local #933.  She retired after many years of service.

Mary loved family history and family gatherings.  She enjoyed cooking, and she was a great cook.  She also loved reading and one side of her bed was her books, mail, newspaper and the most important book was her bible.  Most of all she loved her little dog, Pepper.  In her younger days, she enjoyed dancing, and as she would say her dances were:  The Charleston; The Stroll and The Jitterbug.

Mrs. Mary Cook departed this earthly life on Monday , May 4, 2020 at the age of one hundred and seven years old. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, George, John, Cy, Joseph, and Donald Woolridge; sisters, Ruth Gray, Josephine Searcy, Hester Woolridge, Marjorie Shy, and Jean Burton.

Those left to cherish her precious memories include a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and her Pilgrim Church Family.
