Lois C. Woods, born on June 20, 1928, in Indianapolis, Indiana.   “Sister Baby” or “Baby Sister”  she was affectionately called by those who loved her, was the daughter of William Shively and Ruth Barber Shively.  Of her eight siblings, she was the third.  At a young age she professed a belief in Christ at First Baptist Church-West Indianapolis under the pastorage of Rev. Gaston.

Lois reveived her primary and secondary education in the Indianapolis Public School System.  She attended elementary school and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School .

In 1950, Lois was united in marriage to Jasper M. Berry, Jr.  To this union a daughter, Toni Yvonne, was born.

In 1967, Lois was joined in Holy Matrimony to Eddie F. Woods. Their union spanned over forty-two years, and to their union a daughter, Kelli, was born.

Lois was employed in various capacities over the years,  She worked at RCA (Radio Corporation of America) and Guarantee Auto.  In later years, she embarked upon a career at The Madame C. J. Walker     Building.  She began as a maintenance worker and subsequently transitioned to an event planner. 

Lois was an avid jazz aficionado.  She was both learned and knowledgeable about current events. She enjoyed 5000-piece puzzles.

Lois was a doting and loving wife and mother.  It was her joy to entertain family and loved ones in her home.  She loved to feed her family and did so well and with immense joy.

Her final days were spent surrounded by loved ones, her husband, also hospitalized as the same hospital, on the same floor, and her loving  daughters.  Lois C. Woods, the rock of her family, made her transition from this earth on Monday, March 16, 2020, at the age of ninety-one years eight months and twenty-seven days, after a period of  illness.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, James, Edgar, William “Junebug”, Freddie, Marian, Willetta and Donald.    

Lois C. Woods is survived by her husband, Eddie F. Woods; daughters, Toni Yvonne Berry and Kellie Woods, three gnerations of nieces and nephews, a host of other relatives, loved ones, friends and neighbors.
