Otha D. “D.D.” Lawrence, Sr. was born to Otha D. and Beulah Mae Phillips Lawrence.  He was born on December 17, 1933, in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

He heeded the call  to serve in the United States Army overseas.  Among the medals, awards and citations he earned was a Sharpshooter Medal, and an Honorable Discharge.  Upon returning to Kentucky, he graduated from High Street High School and met his wife.  

D.D. and Jean Doris Mitchell were united in holy matrimony on June 9th, 1962.  They moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where they lived and started their family. 

D.D. became employed by Allison Transmission, a Division of the General Motors Corporation, in Skilled Trades for many years.  He retired to pursue his interest in real estate and other entrepreneurial endeavors.

D.D. was a deeply devoted husband, a doting father and a   loving son, brother and uncle.  His made his family his first priority in his life.  He was always willing to help anyone he could.  He had an easy-going personality and made friends easily wherever he went.

D.D. departed this earthly life on Wednesday March 4th, 2020, at the age of eighty-six years two months and eighteen days.

He leaves to cherish he memory his son, Otha D. Lawrence, Jr. and daughter, Anita Lynn Lawrence; brother Delbert Lawrence of Indianapolis, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many cherished friends.
