Mr. Damon Cletus Ladd was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 13, 1975 to Kay (Fess) Shelton and Clete (LeAnn) Ladd.  He attended IPS schools and graduated from Warren Central High School in 1994.  He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 19 years old where he was stationed in Yuma Arizona, 29 Palms, and Okinawa, Japan.  He was part of the Cyclone 38th Infantry Division.  He later joined the United States Army National Guard and served until he retired in 2007.

Damon Ladd accepted Christ at a young age.  He was baptized together, with his then-fiance, Primavera before they were united in Holy matrimony on July 18, 2009.  Together they shared 10 and a half years of marriage and was blessed to be the parents of four sons: Jabriel, Julian, Jahmir, and JaShawn.

Damon Ladd was very intelligent and had many years of experience in the electrical field and telecommunications.  He enjoyed working on blueprints and was to start a new job with XPO Logistics in Lebanon, IN on the day of his passing.

Damon liked to talk on the phone with his mother, father, and friends often.  He could talk for hours about topics of interests with some conversations leading to intellectual debates.  But he loved to joke, tell stories, and make people laugh.  He knew no stranger and left an impression with everyone he came in contact with.  He was a proud husband and father.  He liked watching Japanimation, Dragon Ball Z, and    Boondocks with his boys.  He also loved R&B and old school hip hop such as Rakim, Too Short, and Tupac.  Damon’s hobbies were anything that had to do with his sons.  He coached Indy Hoops for the Ben Davis youth basketball league and was his sons greatest fan.  He was known to be the father yelling on the sidelines with his powerful voice that radiated across the court and field.  He loved to play wrestle with his boys and often had battle raps and joaning contests that left them cracking up with laughter.  He enjoyed spending quality time with his family.  He would write poems and endearing letters to his wife Prima.  Her favorite was entitled P.R.I.M.A which stood for Pretty Rains In the Month of April.  She was the love of his life and he was hers.  They were committed to one  another and she was with him until he took his final breath.

He leaves  to cherish in his memory his wife, Prima Ladd, sons Jabriel Ladd, Julian Ladd-Baskin, Jahmir Ladd, and JaShawn Ladd, his only grandchild Amir Tarik Ladd, his mother Kay (Fess) Shelton, father Clete (LeAnn) Ladd, sister LaTasha Crutcher, brother Malik Ladd, Benjamin Davis, nephew Khalil Crutcher, niece Shania Crutcher, uncles Tim Willoughby, Charles Crabtree, Thomas Hause, William Kenny Ladd, aunts Mayme Golder, Thomasa Hause, Vetris Churchwell, and Audrey Bullock, and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.

Damon Ladd departed this life on Monday, January 27, 2020 just two weeks after his 45th birthday.  He was preceded in death by his brother Christopher Davis and uncles Gerald Ladd, and Roy Ladd.
