Life’s Reflection

                 Leon H. Rhodes, was born August 8, 1923, in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He was the younger of two sons born to Herman Rhodes and Gladys Bonnie Lee Rhodes McMurray.   Early in Life he   professed a belief in Christ and he was baptized.

                 As a product of the Indianapolis Public School System, he received his  primary education at Public School #42.  He graduated from Crispus Attucks High School.  

Leon heeded the call to serve his country in the armed forces. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.  Upon returning to civilian life, he  embarked upon a career with The General Motors Corporation.  Employed as a machine operator, he was a member of the Unites Auto Workers Union, Local . 

In later years, Leon became a member of Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, where he served under the pastorage of Rev. Sterling L. Williams.

On June 10, 2010, Leon was joined in marriage to Gloria.  His beloved wife preceded him in death. 

Leon was fun-loving in nature.  He was a real jokester, who found joy in making others happy and watching them laugh. 

Leon H. Rhodes departed this earthly life November 8, 2019, at the age of ninety-six years three months and a day.  He joins other loved ones who include his parents;  step-father, Arthur McMurray, and daughter, Marlene Beecher, and special friend, Karen Ogletree.

He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Stacey Rhodes; grandson, Stacey Rhodes, Jr.; granddaughter, Devine White; great-granddaughter, Shakeela Gaines and Stacia Rhodes; and friends which include, Kimberly Rhodes.
