Lola Marie Elkins was born May 9, 1959, in Indianapolis, Indiana.  She was the daughter of Rev. Dr. George C. Woodruff, Sr. and Berta Mae Woodruff.

Lola professed her faith in Christ at an early age.

Lola attended her early schooling in Dallas Texas, Norwood, North Carolina and Indianapolis, Indiana.

Lola attended Indianapolis Public School #60 and was a graduate of Shortridge High School class of 1977.  Lola attend Clark Business College, Indianapolis, Indiana, where she earned an Associates degree. 

Lola worked in the Customer Service field for many years employed with Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cato Fashions and AAA prior to her disability.

Lola, also known as “Memaw”, had a strong desire and loved working with children.  She didn’t just babysit, she connected with them

She enjoyed watching game shows and HGTV.  She was an outgoing individual who enjoyed getting pampered and traveling with her sister friends, Marion Briscoe, Darcia Brown and Arnita Payne.

Lola Marie Elkins  departed this life on Thursday, November 14, 2019, at the age of sixty.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Dr. George C Woodruff, Sr. and Berta Mae Thompson Woodruff, and two of her siblings, Matthew Thompson and Gertrude “Trudy” Woodruff.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Mya C.B. Ragland of Hampton, Georgia and Christinia J. C. Elkins of Indianapolis, Indiana, grandchildren, André  A. Ragland, Jr., and Aymarie B. C. Ragland of Hampton, Georgia, Christian J. C. Elkins, and Christiana J. C. Elkins,  of   Indianapolis, Indiana; siblings, Virginia M. Woodruff of Charlotte, North   Carolina, Rev. Elizabeth C. Woodruff of Indianapolis, Indiana,  Georgia B. Woodruff of Charlotte, North Carolina and Rev. George C. Woodruff of   Boston, Massachusetts; niece, Adele M.  Woodruff of Indianapolis, Indiana; nephews, Derick J.  Walker, and Gregory J. Martin, Sr.; great nieces, Jamila R. Hughes, Avé  Rein M. Rayner and Genesis Martin; great nephews, Gregory J. Martin, Jr., and Amon M. Liggins, Indianapolis, Indiana, and a host of other relatives, church family and friends.
