Dorothy Louise Jackson was born to Robert P. and Geneva M. Jackson on July 10, 1952 in Mayslick, Kentucky.

Dorothy dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Mayslick Kentucky. She attended the Mayslick Negro School for 2 years then was integrated into Mayslick Elementary, then went on to graduate from Mason County High School. She connected with her endless love Charles Jackson at the wedding of her future brother in-law. Shortly after that they were united in marriage July 17, 1971 and moved to Indianapolis, IN in the following month.

She was a dedicated employee of Layne Bryant for many years, moving her way up to warehouse supervisor. She departed Layne Bryant due to medical reasons. She was a member of Olivet Missionary Baptist Church and served proudly on the Olivet usher board. Dorothy loved cooking for all who stopped by the house and for her church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, she helped organize family gatherings, loved helping with the vocational bible school, going to concerts and movies with her husband. And she was always on the phone with one of her sisters…oh and she loved socializing on Facebook keeping up with all the new babies blessed into our family.

Dorothy fought long and hard from being admitted to St. Vincent November 25, 2018, until she felt it was time to return to her earthly home, June 12, 2019 before ascending to her heavenly home.

Dorothy’s legacy as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother is her reflection in all those who continue to care and love her.

Dorothy departed this life on June 20,2019 and is survived by her husband Charles Jackson, her children Randalin [Tyrone] Pettus, Tiffany [Damien] Stauch, Jeremy Jackson, special daughters Keyen and Ricca, and her grandchildren, Indea, Quincey, Caleb, Eva, Treone, and Micah.

She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Patsy Taylor, Bonnie [Genie] Boulden, Wanda [Rev. Randy] Taylor, William [Ramona] Jackson, Linda Myrick, Edna [Terry] McKee, Bobbi [Charlie] Maxwell, Rev.Terry [Roberta] Jackson, Charles [Birgit] Jackson, Phoebe Jackson, John [Micelle] Jackson, Michael [Amarylis] Jackson, Tony [Julie] Jackson, Lynn Jackson, and Rodney Jackson, and a plethora of nieces and nephews.
