Elva “Evelyn” Williams was born in Winona, Mississippi on July 19, 1927 to Mr. Abraham Lincoln  Applewhite and Maude Purnell Applewhite.

Evelyn received her education in the Carroll County Public Schools. At an early age of 18, Evelyn met her husband, Ernest Williams and married in 1943. Years later Mrs. Williams relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana, where she worked at Metairie Hospital for many years.

In the late 80’s, Evelyn relocated to Indianapolis,   Indiana to be with her family. After moving to Indianapolis, Evelyn dedicated her life to Christ and became a faithful   member of Emmanuel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. She was apart of Usher Board Ministry for several years.

Evelyn loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved fishing, shopping, and traveling with her  favorite little cousin Lettie Purnell. They were like Thelma and Louise. (You wouldn't see one, without the other)

Evelyn became a member of New Direction Worship Center, as a dedicated member.

Elva “Evelyn” Williams was preceded in death by both of her parents, Mr. Abraham and Mrs. Maude Applewhite; brothers, Issac and Elsie Applewhite; sisters, Jessie Mae Johnson and Annek Reese Applewhite; and her favorite cousin Lettie Purnell.

Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Anna Lee Forrest; daughter, Ada B. Jeffries; son, Laddarro “June” Flemings; grandchildren, Brandy Jefferies, Altine Stephanie “Odine” Jefferies Marshall; great-grandchildren, Gregory, Xavier, K-Moni, Kallea, Jaguar, Kearra, and a host of nieces, nephews and many more family members and friends.

May the love of your family and friends carry you through your grief...

   Posted Mon April 29, 2019
I am so sorry to hear of the death of Evelyn. The passing away of a loved one is always with much sorrow. May we have faith and confidence in the Bible's promise of a time when pain, sickness and death are a thing of the past (Revelation 21:3, 4). My condolences are with the family at this difficult time.
