Ms. Annie Mae Worthy daughter of the late George Palmer and Annie Bell Palmer, was born in Greenwood, Mississippi on July 31, 1930.

Ms. Annie Mae relocated from Greenwood, MS traveling through Memphis, TN, Cairo, IL until she arrived in Indianapolis, IN, making this her home until her death.  She had a limited education, only going as far as the seventh grade.  Mrs. Annie Mae in June, 1967 was united in marriage to Edward H. Worthy.  Together they had seven children.

Mrs. Annie Mae retired from Methodist Hospital after thirty-six years of dedicated service in 1996  under the great Dr. Frank Lloyd.

Mrs. Annie Mae  was a “God Fearing” devoted Christian to her church Bethel A.M.E. and family.  Mama loved those family gatherings and especially holidays and family reunions.  Mama’s Southern Home Cooking would melt your heart.Biscuits from scratch and grits with jowl bacon for breakfast.  Holidays would consist of being up all night making Sweet   Potato pies and Seven-Up Cakes and don’t forget the Coconut cakes all made from scratch.  Those southern greens, and turkey and dressing with delicious ham and KY’s all prepared with love from our mother.  She also loved gardening and she had her on signature green thumb for planting her beautiful tulips and flowers around her home which she taught her    children and  passed on to her grandchildren until her health began to fail.

Annie Mae belonged to the Forest Manor Multi-Service Center, where she was the Vice-President for the Neighborhood Association.  She also was the Flower Fund Treasurer at Methodist for the Bereavement.  Annie Mae was an active participant for the July Birthday Club, and most of all her commitment to the Missionaries at Bethel A.M.E. Church.

Mrs. Annie Mae Worthy left her earthly body to     return to the Lord on Monday, November 13, 2017 at the age of eighty-seven years, three months, and twenty days.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister, husband, Edward H. Worthy, and one granddaughter.

Mrs. Annie Mae leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Willie Neil Palmer (Laura), Oliver Rozell Palmer, John William Palmer-Yahya El-Amin (Tami); step-son, Edward H. Worthy, Jr.; daughters, Susie M. Harris (Gregory, Sr.), Connie S. Yarrell (Timothy, Sr.), and Dianna L. Scantlebury (Vernon) Knowles-Worthy; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, a   village of relatives and friends for whom she loved deeply.  A special thanks to the Greenbriar Village staff, Purpose Home Care and Hospice Care, and residents for their service and care of our mother.
