Dear Family:
We, the families of The Compassionate Friends, send you our heartfelt condolences on DeAndre’s passing.
The Compassionate Friends is an international grief support group for parents, grandparents and siblings who have suffered the heartbreaking loss of a child. Our only mission is to provide comfort, hope and support to every family experiencing the death of a son or daughter, brother or sister, or grandchild, and to help others better assist the grieving family.
We meet monthly on the first Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, 99 W. Main St, Greenwood, IN 46142 and on the third Thursday at the Faith Apostolic Church, 1212 E. 116th St., Carmel, IN 46032.
If and when you are ready to do so, please join us for either, or both, meetings.

I was DeAndre's teacher at John Marshall for three years. During that time, I had the pleasure of seeing DeAndre grow up and mature. DeAndre was very smart and a deep thinker. We had many serious discussions last year on a variety of subjects. DeAndre had a quick mind, and an excellent sense of humor. He also loved to play (maybe sometimes too much), but was always polite and respectful when I tried to refocus him on schoolwork. DeAndre never used his illness as an excuse for anything. In fact, it was another teacher who first told me of his health issues. When I spoke with DeAndre about it, he was matter of fact and accepting. DeAndre carried himself and acted like a man, and I will miss him like a son or a brother.
