Alberta Ward was born on August 30, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Paul Nunn and Virginia Hopson.  She was the oldest of five children.  Both parents; her stepfather, Herman Bradley and one brother, Kevin    Bradley preceded her in death.

Alberta was raised by her aunt, Janet Peck.     Alberta moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1999.

Alberta  and her aunt Janet had a special bond.  Alberta’s aunt cared for and raised her and their        relationship exuded a love beyond compare.

Alberta accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Paran Baptist Church in Indianapolis,    Indiana.  She attended Second Baptist Church in Las     Vegas where she served as a greeter.

Alberta graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she ran track and field.  Alberta  was also a member of the Lyons Club.

Alberta worked at Camp Atterbury in the      Culinary Department as Head Chef.  She was later        employed by Indianapolis Public School as a school bus driver.  Then she was employed by Metro Transit (Indy Go).    After her driving days, she became a supervisor in the   dispatch  office where she later retired.

Alberta  was known for her delectable entrees.  Because of her love for cooking, and people she hosted many events where there was standing “room only.”

Alberta  was quite the social bird!  Not only was Alberta a great cook she loved to eat and deserts was the best part of her meal.

Alberta lived life to the fullest on her own terms.  She wasn’t afraid to try something new.  Whether that was eating the local cuisine which        consisted of kangaroo or rattlesnakes in Australia, or riding an elephant in Viet Nam.

Being a thrill seeker, she rode the ski lifts in the Swiss alps and toured the castles in Great Britain and Ireland.  Alberta traveled to all 50 states and 7       continents.  The only place she had not traveled to was India!

Alberta Ward departed this life on Sunday, April 5, 2015.

Alberta leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Dorothy and Sandra; one sister, Diane Brewer; two brothers, Herman and Dennis Bradley; her grandchildren, Ronald Smith, Niya Jones, Robert and Jeremy Crawford, Christopher and Ka’Sandra Rudolph; six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Alberta’s message to everyone is don’t cry, smile when you think of me.  Remember I’m blessed.  I’m Free!
