Deacon Eugene Jackson the son of Moses James Jackson and Isabell Marshall Jackson was born July 20, 1925, in St. Louis, Missouri.

           Eugene received his primary and secondary     education in St. Louis graduating  in June of 1946 from Vashon High School.  After graduation he was drafted into the service.  He went on to further his education at Shurtleff Baptist College in Alton, Illinois.

In 1951, Eugene moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, here he resided and made his home. 

At an early age in life Eugene professed a hope in Christ and was baptized.  On May 14, 1967, Eugene became a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Richard Taylor Andrews, Sr.  He remained faithful becoming elevated as a Deacon on March 19, 1972, by his pastor.  On November 26, 1973, he join the Mount Zion Male Chorus. 

On July 3, 1976, Eugene was united in Holy Matrimony to Janet K. Gaines. 

 

Eugene work experience spanned over several years starting out at Quality Handbag Co., Midland Shoe Co., and the St. Louis Administration Center.  Upon his move to Indianapolis, Indiana he began working in      different levels at Fort Benjamin Harrison Finance &    Accounting Center.  He retired as a Supervisory Military Pay Examiner GS-545-11 on August 29, 1985. 

 

Deacon Eugene Jackson departed this life on Monday, March 2, 2015 at the age of eighty-nine years.  He was preceded in death by his       parents, five brothers, Maurice, Moses Jr., Attaway Roscoe, Howard and Thomas; sister, Barbara Jean and son, Vincent Darryl. 

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Janet K. Jackson; his children, Linda Darlene Jones,  Willie Jones, Kevin Dwayne Jackson (Sarah) and Kenneth Jackson; grandchildren, great grandchildren; sister, Vernell  Lucille Heard of Leesville, Louisiana  and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends and his Mount Zion Church Family.
