Mary Etta was born November 30, 1916 in Midway Kentucky to William and Ellena Webster.  The 6th child of seven children, Mary Etta always had a quiet and peaceful spirit.

Mary Etta was educated in the public school system of Midway Kentucky and graduated from Versailles High School.

At a young age, Mary Etta accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and gracefully played the piano for the Church choir.  Under the watchful and skillful eye of her Mother, Mary Etta became a great seamstress, an excellent cook and was an immaculate homemaker, thus making her talents sought after by many others working in that capacity.

Desiring more opportunities to enlarge her skills, Mary Etta moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where she stayed with her Brother Theopolis “Joe” and his wife Margaret and helped them raise their five children.  Known for her gifted talents of domestication, she soon found work in some of the finest homes in Indianapolis.  She also worked at Ross Jewelers, L.S. Ayres & Co. and the Chew & Chat Restaurant.

Mary Etta loved her family and was deeply saddened when her parents William and Ellena, and all five brothers William, Amos, Theopolis, Robert and Stanley preceded her in death.

Mary Etta, met, fell in love and married her soul mate Mr. Harry Hickman.  With no children born to this union–Harry’s children “Holsey, Pat and Dickey” became the joy of her life.   Mary Etta and Harry enjoyed 42 years of marriage before his passing in 1990.

Mary Etta married Mr. Robert Edwards in 2001, and they enjoyed three years of marital bliss. They traveled to many wonderful places (including Las Vegas where she always wanted to visit) until his death in 2004.

Mary Etta enjoyed her short walks around the neighborhood, family gatherings and watching her favorite old movies on the Turner Classic Movies Network.

Mary Etta was a devoted member of Light of the World Christian Church, were she attended faithfully until her health began to fail.

Mary Etta departed this life on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the age of 97 years.  She leaves to cherish her memory:  Stepchildren Rev. Holsey (Mae) Hickman of Dallas, Texas, Patricia (Alvin) Sharpe; sister, Jeanetta Rouchion of Columbus, Ohio; a special nephew, Gerald (Sherri) Webster, nephews, Richard and Stanley Webster, Eddie (Cynthia), Samuel, James Rouchion; nieces Saundra Webster, Juanita Rouchion Becker, Ellena McMurry; cousin, Randy Thomas, a host of family, great nieces and nephews, and good friend Ms. Louise Watts.
