Mrs. Barbara Jean “Bobbie” Gowdy Weathers, was born April 20, 1951, the daughter of Robert and Heloweise Bass Gowdy in Madison County, Barbara received her primary and secondary education in the public schools graduating from Velma Jackson High School in Camden, Mississippi. Barbara accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Canton, Mississippi. Barbara moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1970 where she met Billy Weathers and was united in Holy Matrimony on July 4, 1975. Upon her move to Indianapolis, Indiana Barbara became a member at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the Elks Lodge #709 I.B.P.O.E. of W. Barbara loved people, gardening, and working with flowers. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Barbara Jean “Bobbie” Weathers departed this life on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the age of sixty-two years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy H. Weathers on August 11, 2013; her stepson, Curtis Weathers, father, Robert Gowdy and brother, Orin Gowdy. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her mother, Mrs. Heloweise Gowdy; grandson, Tyrone Weathers; stepchildren, Sabrina (John) Williams of St. Louis, Missouri, Frederick (Apryl) Weathers and Billy A. (Tamika) Weathers of Indianapolis, Indiana; sisters, Angie Truss, Rosie L. Gowdy, Mary (Joe) McNair, Gwin (Porter) Wise and Bertile (Thaddis) Carroll; her in-laws, Lamar (Thelma) Weathers, Addie L. Hudson, Bonnie Summers and Alma J. McBeath of Walnut Grove, Mississippi, Dorothy Weathers of Chicago, Illinois; twenty-one grandchildren; devoted friends, Jeff (Juanita) Lewis, Robert Ellis (Mary) Stennis, Wanda Lane and Wanda Whitey of Indianapolis, Indiana a loving and caring neighbor Mr. Cloice (Betty) Dotson of Indianapolis, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
