Elizabeth B. Washigtion, 79, affectionately known as “Nanny”, was called home to be with her Lord in August 26, 2013. She was born February 1, 1934 in Anchorage, Kentucky to the late Price Garrett and Mary Elizabeth Leavell.

Elizabeth accepted Christ at and early age. She move to Indianapolis, IN in 1953 where she joined New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she met her husband, Mr. Toliver Washington. They later joined Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, she served faithfully for over 20 years. She served on the Nurse’s Board and was the first member to join the Pastor’s Sunday School Class. She loved her church and her Pastor and did not hesitate to tell everyone how wonderful  her church was. 

Elizabeth worked the majority of her life tin the Healthcare Field. She loved children and was a Foster Grandparent at Flanner House for many years, as well as a Foster Parent to many children. She loved the Lord and taught all of her children the 23rd Psalm and introduced them all to Christ at and early age. Although Elizabeth was a very picky eater, she loved fried chicken and was one one o the best at cooking it as well. She loved spending time with her children, all of her grandchildren and her dog Sheba.

Elizabeth was  a rare gift from God. She loved all children as her own family and they all loved her also. She will missed by many, but her spirit will dwell with them forever. To her children she was “Mama, who told them the “Truth” rather they liked it or not. She always spoke her mind.

Elizabeth departed this life on Monday, August 26, 2013 at the age of seventy-nine years old.  She was preceded in death by  her parents, husband; Toliver Washington, daughter; Mary Elizabeth Leavell, son; Dale Edward Leavell, sister; Jessie Luney, and brothers; Dallas, Murphy and Tenell Leavell.

Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory her children; Mark Leavell and Anthony Wilson both of Seattle, WA, Shawn Wilson, Sr., Shannon Washigton, Michelle Kelly, E’mani Washington, and Essence Forte’ all of Indianapolis, IN, sister; Helen Tensley of Louisville Kentucky, Loraine Leavell of Indianapolis, IN, brother; William Leavel of Seattle, WA, two grandchildren she raised as her children, Rita and Michael Leavell of Indianapolis, IN, grandchildren; Nivea and Gabriel Leavell of New York and Katie and Shawn Jr. Wilson of Indinapolis, IN along with 7 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and church family.

Our sincere condolences to all in the family. No one can truly appreciate the loss we know you are experiencing, so our hearts go out to you. The bible says that Jehovah God… “comforts us all, in our tribulations” at … ( 2 Corinthians 1: 3,4).
it says that true knowledge of him and his son Jesus Christ, means everlasting life. (JOHN 17:3), Jehovah is the source of life and he promises, ”no more mourning, outcry, or pain, by means of his son and our king Christ Jesus… (REVELATION 21: 4,5…&… PSALMS 83:18)… Our prayer is that his word will bring peace, comfort, and true hope to all of you.
