Mrs. Jewell C. Barber Lacy the daughter of Rev. Levy George Barber and Beulah Frances Martin Barber was born on December 7, 1929 in Glasgow, Kentucky. 
Jewell received her primary and secondary education in the local area schools graduating from Glasgow Technical High School. 
In 1953, she along with her aunt moved to Indianapolis, Indiana it was here she resided and made her home. 
On September 11, 1954, Jewell was united in Holy Matrimony to Wallace Richard Lacy.  Together they shared many years of happiness.  She was preceded in death by her husband on March 7, 1999.   
At an early age in life she professed a hope in Christ and was baptized.  She was a member of the Barnes United Methodist Church where she served on the usher board for many years.  She was also a member of the Indianapolis All-star Club, Sunday Evening Supper Club, the Culturets Club and the Supreme Club. 
Mrs. Lacy gained employed with the Indianapolis Public School System where she had worked for twelve years.
Mrs. Jewell C. Barber Lacy departed this life on March 22, 2013 at the age of eighty-two years old.  She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters.
She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Charles (Sandra) Barber of Indianapolis, Indiana, sister, Tanya Barbour of Pasadena, California; brother-in-law, Jewett Lacy; two sisters-in-law, Mary Barber of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Virginia Barber of Indianapolis, Indiana, and a host of nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
