Paul Melvin Franklin was born June 29, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Thomas Franklin III and the late Lazatha Quinn. 

Paul attended Arsenal Tech High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force.  He served four years and received an Honorable Discharge.  

Paul worked at General Motors as a Dye Setter for thirty-two years retiring in 2001.

Paul professed Christ at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in 2006 and became a faithful member.  He served on the Usher Board and a diligent Sunday school member. 

Paul was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to collect model airplanes and trains.  He also loved anything historical in content and sports memorabilia.

Paul departed this life on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the age seventy three.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and Roger Franklin and sisters, Betty Patterson and Doris Hall.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his wife of eighteen years Thelma Footman Franklin; sons, Eddie and Eric Franklin, Terrol (Jeannette)  Footman, and Jerry (Tanequa) Footman; daughters, Elease Green, Eydie Malone, and Yolanda Footman;   brothers, Ronald (Doris) and Gary Franklin; sisters, Norma Patterson and Grace Cromer; sixteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
