Micheal Ayodeji Fajana, affectionately called “Micheal Lou”, went to sleep on February 17, 2012 at Clarian Hospital West, Avon, Indiana. His final days were spent in his usual routine, surrounded by family and friends that Michael had touched in some small way, throughout his short, yet very memorable life. Born October 9, 2007, Micheal’s life would seem too short to many, but for those who were touched by him, understood that the quality of existence far exceeds quantity of time in which you live. His gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around him and though he never spoke a word, his voice and thoughts could always be heard.
Although Micheal’s illness made him appear frail, he was a fighter. His name, Micheal, means one who is like God. In that manner, Michael possessed strength, perseverance and the ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With his courage, he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. Micheal was a faithful member of Emmanuel’s Little Angels Adventurer Club. He enjoyed being in the midst of kids. He liked going to school. He enjoyed talking toys and music. His favorite song was, “If You’re Happy and You Know It”.    He especially loved to hear his mom say, “I LOVE MICHEAL” and his dad say, “Shake Daddy.”
Micheal’s favorite blessing, pronounced daily by his mom, was, “May the Lord keep you and guide you, may the Lord make His face to shine upon you, may the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and be gracious unto you, may the Lord give you peace, peace in your brain, in your eyes, and all parts of your body. I will fight for you in Jesus name. Amen.
With Micheal’s passing, we remind ourselves and others that his life is one to be celebrated, although we will miss him dearly, he will forever remain in our hearts. Through his teachings about life, we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be his parents. We are so thankful that Micheal’s brother, Daniel, had an opportunity to spend this time with him. He will hold dear the memory of Micheal’s fighting yet gentle spirit.
Micheal leaves behind many wonderful caregivers that provided love and support that enhanced his quality of life. Micheal’s love extended to his wonderful nurses, Ms. Ann and Ms. Cassa and his school teachers, Mrs. Gray, Ms. Linda and Ms. Hollie. Because of their dedication, love and support, Micheal was able to survive some of his toughest medical challenges. He will be dearly missed by his caregivers and teachers of White Oak Elementary School in Avon, Indiana. They provided Micheal with love in dignity, both in his life and death.
Micheal is survived by his loving parents, Oluwole and Olabisi Fajana of Avon, Indiana; Brother Daniel Fajana; Paternal grandparents Titus and Grace Fajana of Nigeria; Maternal grandparents, Moses andSusan Ogunkoya of Nigeria; a host of uncles, aunts and cousins too numerous to mention, and wonderful church family (EPC).
