Mr. Charles Edward “T-Bird” Turner, Jr. was born on December 17, 1928, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the son of Charles E. Turner, Sr. and Mary Lee Taylor Turner. His parents preceded him in death.
Charles received his education in the Indianapolis Public School System. He enlisted to serve in the United States Army, and completed a tour of duty in Germany from 1951-1953.
On November 18, 1950, Charles was united in marriage to the love of his life, Charlotte Marceline Powell, and their union of Holy Matrimony, love and contentment spanned over sixty-nine years. They affectionately called each other “Junior” and ”Charrie”.
After earning an Honorable Discharge, Charles was able to continue his civil service employment at the United States Postal Service. He worked as a Letter Carrier for thirty-nine years, and retired in 1997. He was a member of the union.
Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He always shared his wisdom and was a good provider for his family. Charles found enjoyment in the simple pleasures in his life. He loved to watch his “Westerns” and “The Price Is Right” television shows.
Our beloved Charles Edward “T-Bird” Turner, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on March 13, 2020, at ninety-one years of age with his family by his side.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; son, Ricky J Turner; siblings, Vohnley Turner and Lillian M. Robinson; five grandchildren, Damon and Leroi Coleman, and David, Christopher, and Lakeisha Kimbrough.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Loretta Dorsey, Denise Coleman, Carl Turner, Janice Turner (Anthony), Tanya Turner (Sean), and stepdaughter, Patricia Peoples; brothers, William Turner and Lewis Turner; grandchildren, Tamala Coleman, Cecil Todd (Dee Dee), Marvin Dorsey of Corona, California, Gayland Dorsey of Ypsilanti, Michigan, MiQua Dorsey of Detroit, Michigan, Ricky Turner, Jr. and Carl Turner, Jr., a host of other beloved family members and friends.
