DEACON WINDELL CRENSHAW Obituary

Brief Sketch of Life

Windell Edward Crenshaw was born November 24, 1945, in Metcalfe County Kentucky to the late Conrad and Velma Crenshaw. He departed this life on March 12, 2024. He was one of sixteen children born to this union. He accepted Christ at an early age.

Mr. Crenshaw grew up on his family farm attending Old Blue Spring Elementary School and graduated from Ralph J Bunche High School in 1966.

After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War. He served on the USS Aludra. After serving in the war, he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and was employed at the Kroger Corporation Dairy division. He retired from Kroger.

In 1990 he joined Second Baptist Church/Purpose of Life where he served faithfully as a Deacon for over 30 years. He attended various churches before making Purpose of Life his home. During his time at Purpose of Life he led the Thanksgiving food drive, he helped maintain the church grounds, he was in the Men's Choir, taught Sunday School, and Prophet Priest King classes.

He touched the lives of many. He was not boastful. He was respectful. He was direct. He was consistent. He loved God, his family, church family, neighbors and community.

He was preceded in death by parents, Conrad and Velma Crenshaw; brothers, Winfred, Glen, Roger, Sheldon, Jasper, and Conrad Moquin Crenshaw; sisters, Mary Clark, Yvonne Coats, Zola Driver, and Janice Crenshaw.
