James Thomas Massie, son of the late James Thomas Bigsby and Betty Jean Allen, was born on May 9, 1952 in Indianapolis, IN.  He was blessed to have two loving fathers—his biological father, James Bigsby; and the Dad who raised and imparted much wisdom into him, Charles Allen.

James was educated in the Indianapolis Public School System attending School # 24 and Crispus Attucks High School.

His love for music and dry cleaning were the hallmarks of his career.  He  enjoyed careers in both industries.  James was a member of and became leader of the band that became known as Amnesty, whose successes included the release of the album entitled, “Free Your Mind”. He also worked for various dry cleaning businesses and eventually was blessed to own his own store for a  season.  James remained active in both fields in some capacity until his health failed.

Better known as “Red” by his family and many of his friends, James was a fun-loving, out-going, out-spoken, witty person.  He loved to travel and    explore new surroundings.  He was the very proud father of three daughters whom he adored.  He later was joined in Holy Matrimony to Betty Seawood Howard on July 31, 1993.

James was passionate about his walk with God.  His first question to anyone who told him of someone who passed away was, “Did they know the Lord?”  He would also say that he was jealous because they were home with Jesus but he couldn’t go until he had completed his life assignment.  He was a proud member of U-Connect Church where he always enjoyed the Word and the fellowship.

James Thomas Massie departed this life on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the age of sixty-five.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard, and sister Alva He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Betty Seawood Massie; daughters, Vikki Massie, Nikki Massie, and Jamie Massie Parker (Sidney);    sisters, Aleace Allen Thomas (Jay), Leslie Allen Reimmer; brothers, Clifton Allen, Warren Allen (Betty); fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
