Mrs. Wanda Kay Linza Jones was born on March 2, 1955, in          Indianapolis, Indiana.  She was the daughter of Evenly Branch Linza and Luther B. Linza.

Wanda received her primary and secondary education in the Indianapolis Public School System, having attended School #41.  She graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1973, her class being the last all black graduating class. Wanda was involved in many different activities while attending Crispus Attucks. Wanda, upon graduating from Attucks, received with honors, “The  Annual Memorial     Scholarship”, awarded to her by The Indianapolis Recorder newspaper.  She attended Upward Bound during her Junior and Senior years  at Indiana State University.

Wanda became a Christian at an very early age of nine years at Community Baptist Church under the direction of the late Rev. John H. Cheffins. Later in life, she became a member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church, where she served       faithfully until the time of her death.

Wanda was united in Holy Matrimony to George Lee Jones, Jr. on        September  19, 1987, where she shared thirty years of marital contentment. She was a  loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, grandmother and god mother. As a grandmother she was called “NaNa”, and she dearly loved and spoiled all of her grandchildren. Wanda overcame diversity and many obstacles in her life, but that never stopped her from offering a helping hand to those in need.

Mrs. Wanda Kay Linza Jones departed this life on October 10, 2017.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Allen D. Linza; nephew, Michael A. Linza, Jr. and Willie “Tea”  Branch Douglas, who raised Wanda, Michael, Sr. and Terry after their father’s death in 1961, and their mothers death, in 1964.

She leave to cherish her memory a very devoted  and loving husband, George Lee Jones, who stood by her side no matter what happened; daughter, Christina Renee Wright (Brandon); step-son Brandon A. Jones; brother, Michael A. Linza ,Sr. (Cynthia); sister, Terry E Hill (Arnell); granddaughters, Elexsis Jones and Talia Jones; grandson, Xavier Wright; god-son, Kevin Tillman, I; special cousin, Dennis L. Jones; sisters-in- law, Lynell Anderson and Pamela Rowell, of Gary Indiana; a very special sister, Kim Saunders (Charlie) for over twenty-five plus years, who’s been there by her side through thick and thin, (I love You), and a host of nieces, nephews, great- nieces, great- nephews, cousins and her church family.

George and Christina,

My prayers go out to you and the rest of the family. Wanda once told me that all she wanted to do was raise her daughter and see her first grandchild. By the grace of God, she managed to do that. I pray that our Heavenly Father gives the both of you what your hearts need today and in the days ahead. Our loss is heaven's gain.

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free,
I’m following paths God made for me
I took his hand, I heard him call
Then turned, and bid farewell to all

I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to sing, to play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found my peace … at close of play

And if my parting left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened… deep with sorrow
I wish you sunshine of tomorrow
My life’s been full I’ve savoured much
Good friends, good times
A loved one’s touch

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee
God wanted me now
He set me free.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Wanda will be missed by all family, friends and her neighbors. Mrs. Wanda was a wonderful lady and devoted person to all. May the God of all comfort, comfort you and your family at this difficult time. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4). My deepest sympathy.
