To the Wife and family of Senator Howard. You don't know me, but I knew Glenn and he knew me too. I'm Willis Bright's Secretary at the Lilly Endowment. Glenn came to the Endowment on several ocassions to meet with Mr. Bright and we became friends as well. What I admired about Glenn was he always knew who I was no matter what the ocassion or where he would see me in public and he would always have time to talk to me for a few minutes. Not all, or even many, people of his stature or standing in the state, or even pepole you work with, even recognize you out of context or the work setting. Glenn was never like that; he was a genuine person and he made you feel like family. I loved him like an Uncle.
I will truly miss seeing, hearing and most of all, knowing Glenn Howard. May God receive his soul and may he spend it in eternity. "I'll see you soon Glenn"

Respectively, Darleatha Harris

Senator Howard was a good man and a great friend to me. We worked closely on issues of common interest while I was president of the Indianapolis chamber of commerce. We always enjoyed a good laugh, round of golf, or discussion about issues, like how to help kids!

I'm sorry we will not be there for the service, but we will be on vacation. Our prayers are with you at this difficult time, but we all celebrate a significant life on earth even as we rejoice in his eternal life now with God.

God bless you all,

John and Nancy Myrland

The Alumni Lettermen express our sincere condolences. Glen was a charter member of the Alumni Lettermen's Club and helped us honor and thank the late Graham Martin for his role in making us strong black men.

Others will speak to Glen's long and successful career as a Hoosier politician. We will remember him as a graduate of a high school that produced a man of and for the people.

I served with Glenn in the Indiana State Senate. He was very forthrite and explicit in his views. He listened to the arguments before making up his mind on the issues. A very capable State Senator.

He was a good friend.

To the loving family of The Honorable Glenn L. Howard Sr.

God Bless you all as you send Glenn home to be with the Lord. He will be missed. I remember him for being such a champion of fair play not just for African-Americans but all people. But he was a tremendous spokesman for his district and the community at large. I will remember him for being such a friendly and personable man. And I respect his ability to make an argument without being offensive. As a teenager, I got to work on his behalf at a poll site on 42nd and college on an Election Day and he was always a great and fair person. I respect him and I will miss his voice.

God bless and keep all who mourn his passing and remember him by doing what he would do, give of yourself to others in a form of service.

To the Family of the Honorable Glenn I. Howard Sr.

Your love one was a special person who loved his school (Attucks),and his community. He was committed in his desire to make Indianapolis a better place to live for all citizens.

I met Glenn as a young professional at old Flanner House on 16th Street, where many of us started our journey and sought to make a difference in the city starting in the sixties. Glenn was always focused on the task at hand. I would like to Thank his family for sharing him with the community....his voice made a difference.

May the peace of God guide you as a family as you grieve the Homegoing of Senator Howard. He was a man of faith purpose. He loved family, church, school, and his city. I met Glenn in 1981 when I became his pastor, his support was very helpful when I arrived to serve the church.Eric
