The original location of Stuart Mortuary, Inc. was at 812 North West Street. In 1979 we relocated to 2201 North Illinois Street. This present location has won honors for "Excellence in Development", from the city of Indianapolis, for its fine architectural design. We are conveniently located on the Northeast corner of 22nd and Illinois Streets, just minutes from beautiful downtown Indianapolis, the Children's Museum and Interstate 65 North.
Once arriving at Stuart Mortuary, a 20,000 square foot edifice with an ample parking area for those attending ceremonies, visitation and meetings, you will find an elegant, spacious, yet comfortable setting designed on one level to accommodate everyone. The grand foyer is appointed with crystal chandeliers and soft lighting. Stunning murals and family portraits, all painted by the renowned African American Indiana artist, William Edouard Scott, grace the walls throughout. The creation of other artists, family friends and those who have presented gifts as symbols of gratitude and appreciation, adorn and further accentuate the setting.
As one proceeds through the hallways, there are four chapels and two overflow rooms with the capacity to seat approximately 800 attendees. Just across from the chapels, family and visitors will find a family lounge complete with oversize sofas, chairs, tables, an entertainment center and a vending machine for added comfort. The South side of the mortuary houses our main offices, two arrangement rooms, and a luxurious showroom featuring a wide variety of caskets, burial vaults, cremation urns and women's and men's garments.
Our automotive equipment includes three six-door limousines and two funeral flower car coaches, a Stuart tradition. We have access to horse drawn coaches, carriages, and other limousines to accommodate any service that you may request.
